News: AniMissions Seminar

Our plans to run the AniMissions Seminar continue to unfold. For those of you just tuning in, Create International Taiwan has recently retooled its School of Cartooning and Animation for Missions (SoCAM) to focus more exclusively on animation using the Blender 3D software platform. We are launching this new training venture as AniMissions, and will be running a six-week online seminar from October 24 to December 4 this year.

Create Mobile and Campfire Creatives

We have been excited to see how Create Mobile, another of Create International’s teams, has successfully ported their popular Frontier Filmmaking Seminar (FFS) to the new Campfire Creatives online training platform. They are already in the middle of their second seminar… with 36 students! We are so grateful for all the advice and resources we have received from their team that will help us be ready to go in the fall.

We will also be able to use some of the lesson content already created by Create Mobile for the FFS as there is an overlap of topics between the schools. Topics like Contextualization, Scriptwriting, and Camera Basics will be integrated into the AniMissions Seminar. Create Mobile had done an amazing job covering these and other subjects.

CG Cookie and Our Lecturers

The rest of the curriculum will be a combination of our own talented staff and guest lecturers and the powerful content from CG Cookie, mentioned in a previous blog post. CG Cookie will be providing most of the tutorials covering 3D Modeling, Texturing, Animation, and the Grease Pencil 2D environment. We are grateful for their team of Blender experts and their solid online learning platform.

Our experienced animation designer, Tod Polson, will be teaching on design, composition and color. Tod has worked on a variety of professional productions, including The Book of Life, The Secret of Kells, and most recently, a Netflix series called We the People. Matthew Ullrey, our long-time friend and 3D artist/animator, will be facilitating the Blender curriculum while adding his own special touch. He has been a favorite teacher in the SoCAM for the last six years.

Finally, our staff Hans Widmer will be covering the important topic of Sound Design, and yours truly will be teaching on Storyboarding, Editing, Production, and a basic Introduction to Blender. Our goal is to give students the training and resources they need to make compelling animated projects to reach their target people groups.

How About You?

So, are you an artist wanting to use your skill and talent for the Kingdom of God? Or are you a missionary on a team who wants to add a new animated media element to your ministry for evangelism or training? Consider taking six weeks this fall, to jump into our AniMissions Seminar!
